Bio
Dr. Sarah Frook Gallo is the Director of Choral Activities at Lehigh University, where she leads the Lehigh Choral Arts, conducts three curricular choirs, and teaches conducting and other courses in the music department. A vibrant teacher and singer, she is a frequent guest clinician, presenter, and adjudicator, and enjoys working with singers of all ages.
Prior to her appointment at Lehigh, she taught at the University of Georgia, where she conducted the UGA University Chorus, UGA Choral Project, Men’s and Women’s Glee Clubs, and taught the undergraduate choral conducting sequence and coached graduate students. She has also held teaching positions at William & Mary, Christopher Newport University, and the University of Richmond.
Dr. Frook Gallo is passionate about giving the next generation of teachers, conductors, and singers the tools they need, and gives sessions in conducting, vocal pedagogy, and Dalcroze eurhythmics across the US. She also enjoys guest conducting honor choruses and workshops and aims to foster intentional musical communities in all aspects of her work. Her research interests include the music of 17th and 18th century Mexico City, incorporating Dalcroze Eurhythmics into the conducting classroom, and the experience of adult amateur singers in community choruses. Her choirs have commissioned and premiered works by Tawnie Olson, Lori Laitman, and Ysaÿe Barnwell.
Dr. Frook Gallo earned her bachelor’s degree in music from William & Mary, and her master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from the Eastman School of Music and the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
